Which gas is primarily known as natural gas?

Natural gas is primarily composed of methane, which is a colorless, odorless gas that consists of one carbon atom and four hydrogen atoms (CH₄). It is the most efficient fossil fuel and is used extensively for heating, electricity generation, and as a feedstock in the production of various chemicals and materials.

Methane's abundance and favorable properties make it the primary component of natural gas, typically accounting for around 70-90% of its composition. Other hydrocarbons like ethane, propane, and butane may be present in smaller amounts, but they are not as dominant in natural gas as methane.
